India’s first engineless train:

India’s fastest and first engineless train, “TRAIN 18” to be flagged off on December 29th, 2018. Manufacturing cost of Train 18 is around 100 crore rupees. It became India’s fastest train by hitting speed of over 180 kmph during a trial run.

National Farmers Day:

23rd December is celebrated as National Farmers Day popularly known as Kisan Diwas. It is celebrated in the honour of the former Prime Minister Lt.Chaudhary Charan Singh. Farmers are the backbone of the Indian and root of the countries Agrarian Economy.

Rupees 100 commemorative coin in Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s honour:

PM Modi has launched rupees 100 commemorative coin in the honor of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The rupees 100 coin is made up of silver (50%); copper (40%); zinc (5%) and nickel (5%) weights 135 grams. The coin bears the Ashoka Pillar Lion Capital in the centre with ‘Stayamev Jayate’ inscribed below in Devanagari script on the other side. The left periphery of the coin will have ‘Bharat’ inscribed in Devanagari while the right side will have ‘India’ inscribed in the English language.

The longest BOGIBEEL bridge:

The strategically important bridge, which begins at Dibrugarh and ends at Dhemaji districts of Assam, India was inaugurated by PM Modi on 25th December, 2018.  The 4.9 km long bridge on the Brahmaputra River is the Asia’s second longest rail-cum-road bridge. This bridge will minimize the communication bottlenecks to several districts of Arunachal Pradesh.

4th International Airport opens in Kunnur.

The newly built Kannur International Airport is spread over 2330 acers of land. The airport is located 30km from the main town of Kannur. Now Kerela is the only state in India with four International Airports.

RBI Appoints Shaktikanta Das As New Governor

The appointment committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Shri Shaktikanta Das, IAS Retired, and former Secretary Department of Economic Affairs as Governor, Reserve Bank of India for a period of three years. The appointment follows the surprise resignation of Urjit Patel on December 10th, 2018.

Mary Kom Honoured With ‘Meethoileima’ Title

Manipur Government honored AIBA World Women Boxing Gold medalist MC Mary Kom with the title “Meethoileima” (par excellent queen) at a function in Imphal, Manipur. State Chief Minister N. Biren Singh handed over a cheque of ten lakh rupees to her on this occasion and declared that the Imphal West DC Road towards Game Village will be named as MC Mary Kom Road.

Manika 1st Indian to Win ‘Breakthrough Table Tennis Star’ Award

On Wednesday, at the prestigious International Table Tennis      Federation (ITTF) Star Awards in Incheon, South Korea, Manika Batra won the ‘Breakthrough Table Tennis Star’ award. Manika also reached her career-best ranking of 52 in 2018 and became India’s highest ranked female player.

Delhi HC bans online sale of Medicines across India

The Delhi High Court passed a verdict banning sale of online medicines by e-pharmacists across the country. The court directed both Central and state government to ensure immediate implementation of the order. Chief Justice Rajendra Menon and Justice V.K. Rao passed the judgment hearing a PIL filed by Dr. Zaheer Ahmed a Delhi-based dermatologist. Who complained that lakhs of medicines were being sold on the internet every day without much regulation, posing a huge risk to patients and doctors alike.

Sunil Arora appointed as the new Chief Election Commissioner

President Ram Nath Kovind appointed Sunil Arora as the new Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) replacing O.P. Rawat. He is a 1980 –batch IAS Officer of the Rajasthan cadre. He has also worked in ministries and departments such as finance, textiles and planning commission and was also CMD of Indian Airlines for five years.
